Opening Night 2011

The Portland Chamber Music Festival’s August 11th Opening Night Concert was broadcast live on MPBN – Maine’s public radio network. The concert included the Sonata for Two Violins in C major of Leclair, “On Wenlock Edge” for Tenor, Piano, and String Quartet by Vaughan Williams, and the Octet, Op. 20, of Mendelssohn.

  Boccherini, Hindemith and Dvorak   Annual “Business Supports the Arts” Concert: Paganini, Argento and Schubert  
  August 09, 2012 - 8pm   August 11, 2012 - 8pm  
  Opening Night features the PCMF debut of one of the world’s leading classical guitarists, David Leisner. Soprano Tony Arnold, renowned for her stunning interpretations of contemporary music, also makes her first festival appearance in Hindemith’s unique “Des Todes Tod” for Soprano, Two Violas, and Two Cellos.   Schubert’s great masterpiece, the C major “Cello” Quintet, highlights our first Saturday night program. The evening also features the song cycle Letters from Composers, Dominick Argento’s setting of texts from letters of Bach, Mozart, Puccini, Chopin, and others.
